Youth Dance

Get up and dance! The YMCA of Coastal Georgia is proud to incorporate a program that hosts a variety of culture, movement, and fun. This program educates dancers in multiple disciplines with an emphasis on proper technique and an appreciation of the art. Our youngest dancers begin by exploring movement, rhythm, spatial awareness and building their own creativity. These concepts create a foundation that we nurture as dancers grow within the program. We offer a variety of types of dance programs at various locations.

Tiny Ballet (Ages 3-5)

The focus on this class will be body coordination, simple movement, and creativity! Students will learn body awareness, ballet positions, beginning musicality, and class structure. Playfulness and expression will be encouraged! There will be a showcase at the end of the final class.

Children will be exposed to a variety of dance styles! In this session, we will be focusing on ballet and contemporary. Students will learn proper ballet technique by performing routines at the barre and learning simple center combinations. In both contemporary and ballet, we will be practicing pirouettes as well as turns and leaps across the room. There will be a showcase at the end of the final class in which students will show off the skills they have practiced as well as dancing short choreographed pieces that will be taught during class.
