Summer Day Camp
YMCA camp programs offer a fun and unique experience that gives children and teens the opportunity to have the best summer ever, by meeting new friends, exploring nature, discovering new interests, being physically active and creating memories that last a lifetime.
Day Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. Few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities. Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper- all summer long.
*All fees for camp are due the Monday prior of camp week. Non-payment will result in removal of program. $25 late registration fee will be applied the Monday prior to camp week.
GET READY TO HAVE THE BEST SUMMER EVER!
Summer Day Camp Parent Handbook
Explorers (Ages 11-12)
Traditional Day Camp (Ages 11-12)
Monday-Friday from 7am – 6pm (Includes Pre and Post Camp)
Explorers strengthen and develop friendships, challenge themselves, and build self-confidence. They are looked up to by all other campers and help lead the spirit of camp. Each day, a counselor will lead their group to each activity. On Mondays, each camper is given the opportunity to take a non-mandatory swim test in the pool.
Campers need to bring to camp: Lunch and 2 snacks, swim suit, towel, change of clothes, tennis shoes (no flip flops), water bottle. Make sure everything is labeled and no electronics or toys from home.
Week 1: Fun and Fitness – Let’s kick off camp by getting active and learning about how to move our bodies. Campers will engage in sports and fitness routines throughout the week to engage in healthy living.
Week 2: Harry Potter Color Wars – Magic is amuck! Join our counselors in a week of color war challenges, Quidditch games, and fighting monsters.
Week 3: Wild West – Send your camper with their boots and bandanas because we are going to have a rootin’ and rowdy week! Learn a line dance, lasso a counselor, and find out what the old west was like.
Week 4: Jurassic Park – Campers can ignite their passion for paleontology through learning about dinosaurs, adventure, and the Jurassic World!
Week 5: Disney – Visit our YMCA theme park this week to learn about the magic of storytelling, innovation, and FUN!
Week 6: Life Skills – Kids need to know how to do things too! We teach caring, honesty, respect and responsibility every week, but this week, campers will learn about automobiles, house chores, money management, and more!
Week 7: Pirates – Camp is recruiting pirates-in-training to come aboard and fight in pirate “battles!” Build your fleet of friends, search for treasure, and learn important pirate skills.
Week 8: Mad Science – Put on your lab coat because this week will get crazy! Science experiments, learning about different types of science, and practicing your mad scientist laugh will fill the week with excitement.
Week 9: Time Traveling Treasure Hunters – Have you ever thought about what happened in the past? This week, campers will travel back in time to hunt for treasure, learn about exploration, and play time period games!
Week 10: Survivor – We have survived the summer, but can you survive a camping trip or outdoor challenge? Campers will learn outdoor and water safety this week while playing games and making friends.
*All fees for camp are due the Monday prior of camp week. Non-payment will result in removal of program. A late registration fee of $25 will be applied if registering on the Monday prior to the week of camp or after.
