Three of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia’s Pryme Tyme before and after school programs received Quality Ratings from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. Georgia DECAL awards Quality Ratings through a voluntary review program to recognize Child Learning Centers and program committed to continuous quality improvement to benefit the children in their care. Garrison School of Performing Arts and Isle of Hope K-8 each earned a 2-star Quality Rating and West Chatham Elementary has earned a 1-star Quality Rating.
Similar to a rating system for a service related industry, such as a restaurant, the Quality Rated system holds participants to high level of expectation. Quality Rated programs must meet standards beyond Georgia’s minimum licensing requirements. These three Pryme Tyme programs join an elite list of facilities with Quality Ratings within the state Georgia, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to providing the best care possible for the children and families we serve.
As a Quality Rated program, parents, children, and families can expect that our staff is well trained and qualified. Our team is empowered and capable of customizing the program to suit the needs of those in their care, nurturing their potential and building confidence in students. Under the direction of Director, Emily Salzer and her team of District Coordinators, Pryme Tyme at these three schools demonstrated that our program provides a safe, healthy place for children to learn, grow and thrive beyond the classroom. Our program emphasizes physical, emotional and social development during those crucial after school hours. This year, the Y has an additional six Pryme Tyme locations in Chatham and Effingham counties participating in this voluntary Quality Rated review process.
“I have seen so much growth in not only our students but our staff,” says Emily Salzer, Director of Pryme Tyme. “Our goal is always to provide the best program for the children possible and through the review process, I saw our team shine. Each Pryme Tyme site demonstrated an ardent commitment to learning and developing the program to benefit our students and families. When you walk into the program, you see the children truly engaged in the activities and making the most of those afterschool hours. ”
