Keeping Our Communities Informed

These are unprecedented times.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) is a global pandemic and a national emergency, and nobody is certain what the days ahead hold. It’s hard to imagine more difficult circumstances for operating our YMCA. We are a community organization. We bring people together – from all backgrounds and circumstances – and create personal connections that change lives through membership and programs. But the nature of this virus, and how it spreads, presents significant challenges for our Y.

Today, following updated recommendations from the CDC, Governor Kemp, public school systems, our state and local health departments and our City leadership, we are temporarily suspending all YMCA Member access and activities from our facilities and our fitness centers and pools are closed. This is effective at 7 p.m. today, Friday, March 20, until at least March 31, 2020, with the exception of our Habersham YMCA which will remain closed through April 5, 2020.

Our Ys are bigger than our buildings -  while we know this is a challenging time for all, we’re committed to providing you with access to the Y, from the anywhere.

Beginning on Monday, March 23, 2020, all YMCA of Coastal Georgia childcare programs will transition their focus on offering full-time childcare and holiday camps for critical workers only.

We are working directly with these agencies to share registration information and enroll participants. At this time, we are unable to register critical professionals outside of our community partner organizations.

Regular exercise is one component of a healthy lifestyle that can help reduce stress and prevent illness. During this unprecedented time, the Y is launching online exercise classes and youth programs to support the health and well-being of our community.

YMCA 360 is designed to help you and your family engage with the YMCA virtually from the comfort of home. Popular group exercise classes like boot camp, barre, and yoga taught by YMCA instructors are available now at no cost. The Y plans to release more virtual youth and adult programs throughout March and April.

We are working hard to provide options and additional benefits for our members and trust that you will find a class that you love. Remember you are not alone, and your Y community is still here.

We’re creating content just for you! New resources and videos will be updated soon and shared here and on our social media channels.
