On Monday, March 3, the Statesboro Family YMCA celebrated a major milestone in community wellness with the official launch of its revolutionary EGYM system. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the occasion, making the Statesboro Family YMCA the ninth branch in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia to offer this innovative fitness technology.

EGYM is a groundbreaking fitness system that customizes workouts for individuals of all fitness levels, while creating a more efficient and effective exercise experience.

Mary Arocha, senior vice president of healthy living for the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, highlighted the system’s ability to make exercise accessible to everyone: “When people come in for the first time to an exercise facility, sometimes it can be very intimidating, they don’t know where to get started, and the EGYM helps them to get on their fitness journey at whatever level that they are.”

Through intelligent workout equipment and digital integration, EGYM adapts to each user’s progress, ensuring that every workout is personalized and impactful. “The reason that the YMCA of Coastal Georgia invests in this strength and conditioning circuit is because it’s a revolutionary way to exercise—it’s for health seekers,” Arocha added.

Monday’s ribbon cutting ceremony featured key speakers, including Bryan Realiza, board chair for the Statesboro Family YMCA.

Realiza shared his excitement for EGYM’s integration into the community: “One of the things that we pride ourselves on here at the Statesboro YMCA is innovation,” Realiza said, noting the branch’s early adaptation of 24/7 access and Esports offerings.

 “We’re very excited to have this innovative option for our guests to really expand the way that people look at exercise,” he shared. “This is a great way to bridge the gap between something fun and also daily exercise, which we know is very beneficial for your overall health.”  

Hannah Beggs, executive branch director of the Statesboro Family YMCA, encouraged members to test out the new system. “We do on onboarding and from there you’re going to tap your bracelet, and it does all the work for you. It knows your machine, it knows your weight, your height—it gives you a customized workout that’s less intimidating.”

With its launch at the Statesboro Family YMCA, EGYM is set to revolutionize the way members experience fitness, reinforcing the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community health and wellness for all.
