Children who do not read at grade level by the end of third grade are four times more likely to leave school without a diploma than proficient readers.
The Y Readers program helps elementary school students (kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade) reading below grade level to hop the achievement gap and improve their reading skills. This program is offered at no cost to the student or schools. Certified Teachers provide three hours of instruction, twice a week to students, working with schools directly to select students who are in the greatest need of the help the program can provide.
Not only do students gain confidence in the classroom, but they develop a genuine interest in reading.
Y Readers Program is currently offered at:
East Broad Elementary
Garden City Elementary
