Grant-Funded CEDRC Executive Director

Job Description

Directs and coordinates the effective implementation of the mission, goals, and strategies of the Coastal Empire Disaster Recovery Committee (CEDRC), covering Chatham County, as established by the governing body. The candidate must have two year’s applicable experience and reliable transportation; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. The position is grant funded for a maximum of 18-months, 30-hours per week and serves at the pleasure of the CEDRC’s governing body.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the CEDRC governing body in developing and implementing the operational policies, programs, and training events which meet identified needs before, during, and after a disaster
  • Attends all governing body meetings and serves as staff resource to CEDRC’s governing body
  • Develops and maintains the committee’s public relations program
  • Organizes all CEDRC meetings
  • Reports on-going statistical and descriptive information regarding programs, operations and finances to the CEDRC governing body
  • Identifies and researches grants to obtain or share with CEDRC.
  • Works to build relationships with other coalitions
  • Researches similar long term recovery programs to identify best practices and challenges to avoid
  • Works with community groups, agencies and faith based organizations in developing inclusivity
  • Work with governing body to develop by-laws for CEDRC

 

Skills/Experience:

 

  • Excellent administrative skills with minimum two years’ experience
  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in building successful community engagement coalitions
  • Demonstrated empathy for people in disasters
  • Effective public relations skills
  • Experience in building successful community engagement coalitions
  • Demonstrated flexibility in changing circumstances
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Be able to convey the organization’s purpose to potential clients and others as needed
  • Be a self-starter and have excellent time management skills
  • Work well in a team structure
  • Ability to work independently
  • Creativity
