Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The School Age Care Site Coordinator is directly responsible for all aspects of program development and implementation, staff supervision and collection of program participant fees for the before and after school care program. Hours are from 5:00am-8:00am and 3:00pm-6:00pm, plus some evenings/weekends if help is needed for other youth programs. . In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  1. Plans, schedules, implements and oversees daily program activities of staff and students.
  2. Neat and accurate book and record keeping (group attendance, individual child records etc)
  3. Frequent communication with YMCA Program Director
  4. Assists in other youth programs when needed.
  5. Establishes and maintains regular contacts with parents of program participants.
  6. Supervises and directs Fun Club personnel both paid and volunteer.
  7. Prepares snacks daily.
  8. Orders and maintains instructional materials and supplies.
  9. Organizes and coordinates special events and activities.
  10. Maintains adequate staffing to maintain specified teacher: participant ratios.
  11. Attends staff meetings, conferences and workshops.
  12. Participates in the hiring process, staff development and training activities.
  13. Seeks feedback on program from all involved and makes changes as indicated.
  14. Relates and communicates effectively with parents, students and fellow staff members.
  15. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
  16. Assist in the annual fundraising program for the YMCA.
  17. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, parents and children.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Site Director is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the program site. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Sound working knowledge of child development principles.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  3. Professional training in working with school age children.
  4. Ability to develop and implement daily / weekly lesson and activity plans.
  5. Ability to foster positive staff, parent and child relations
  6. Ability to supervise multiple part-time staff.
  7. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  1. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
  2. Bright From The Start training
  3. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
