Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Maintenance assistant will assist the Building manager in daily duties that maintain the building. Maintenance assistant is responsible for serving as a liaison between the participants, members, and professional staff concerning all fitness equipment, pool operations, and facility functions. Maintenance also ensures the safety of all building fixtures.  In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  1. Monitor the use of all building equipment to ensure member safety.
  2. Clean all areas of the building during each shift.
  3. Keep all equipment properly stored when not in use.
  4. Monitor equipment and facilities in separate locker/fitness rooms, gym, kitchen, offices and pool area.
  5. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
  6. Assist in the annual fundraising program for the YMCA.
  7. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants.

  1. Sound working knowledge of maintenance practice and standards.
  2. Ability to develop and implement cleaning schedules of facility for building manager.
  3. Ability to repair equipment and facilities with available resources.
  4. Ability to work unsupervised.
  5. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  1. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
  2. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
