Islands Family YMCA - Rockwall and Challenge Course Facilitator

Assist with Maintenance, Repairs, and Building of Challenge Course and Supplies

  • Assist with maintenance and repairs of course
  • Conduct on-site inspections of course
  • Prepare and maintain team supplies

Group Management:

  • Explanation of all activities 
  • Responsible for inclusion of all group members 
  • Maintain control of group
  • Leadership of debriefing and closure for each element

Responsible for physical/emotional safety of participants:

  • Awareness of all risks involved
  • Double check all buckles of harnesses and helmets
  • Take action in an emergency or accident
  • Responsible for emotional safety of participants
  • Awareness of emotional needs of individual by verbally encourage and affirm all participants
  • Awareness of participants fears and proper response

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

  • Interest in working with youth and adults in an outdoor educational setting
  • Enthusiasm and interest for facilitation individuals and groups to learn through experiential practices
  • Attendance in staff training dates including May 5th-6th, and May 14th.

 


Corporate - Accountant

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant will utilize the standards set by YMCA policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to perform varied and essential cash management, data entry, account reconciliation, collection, general ledger, financial reporting and financial analysis functions. All duties assigned require a dedication to accuracy, precision and timely completion. Organization skills and attention to detail are also required for success.

The Accountant is expected to provide excellent customer service to members, volunteers, donors and staff who require financial information and/or services. Compliance with all legal standards and regulations, organizational policies and financial best practices are required. The Accountant will serve as a key member of the organization’s administration office support team and must be a positive influence within in the organization, in the community and to the cause of the YMCA.

Effingham YMCA - Welcome Center Staff Evenings

The Effingham YMCA is currently take applications for a Welcome Center staff member. Welcome Center Staff members assist us in caring for our members, communicating YMCA programs, sharing the YMCA mission and greeting current and future members of our Y.  This is a part-time position, primarily covering the closing shifts, but scheduling flexibility is a must. Standard closing shift hours are 5pm-9pm.  Friday evenings are required and you will be asked to take rotational weekend shifts when necessary.

Golden Isles YMCA - Substitute Teachers

The Golden Isles Child Learning Center is now hiring reliable, motivated substitute teachers for coverage during all hours of operation. Substitute teachers will be trained in each classroom (Toddlers through Pre-K) before entering the sub list permanently. If a position becomes available in the center in the future, substitutes are given the first opportunity to interview for a permanent classroom position.

Substitute teachers can expect up to 25 hours per week and are scheduled according to the needs of the center staff. All hours are verified prior to being assigned. 

 

 


Golden Isles YMCA - Summer Camp Counselors

The Islands Family YMCA is currently seeking a part-time facility maintenance assistant. The incumbent must have availability to work 20-25 per week - this flexible schedule can include early mornings, evenings, days, and weekends.

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the part-time maintenance assistant is responsible for the maintenance of building equipment, pool and overall property at the Islands Family YMCA.  General duties would include lawn maintanance, grounds keeping of common areas and athletic fields, cleaning, painting, and manual labor that often involves lifting great than 30 lbs. This individual must be able to stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.

Water Aerobics Instructor:
  • Availability required for rotational mornings for water aerobic classes offered M-F beginning May 29- August 2017
  • 9am-10 am
  • Group Exercise Certification and Water-specific certification required
  • Pay depends on certification and experience

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  1. Meeting and assessing new members for fitness needs, and providing a safe and effective class and or program to meet those needs.
  2. Leading group exercise classes with appropriate verbal instructions and clear patterns of movement according to accepted fitness standards and practices.
  3. Providing instructions for participants on taking their heart rate and when to decrease the intensity of the workout for their safety.
  4. Arrive early to inspect the class setting for safety and equipment issues and to prepare the classroom for program participants.
  5. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
  6. Assist in the annual Priceless Gifts fundraising program for the YMCA.
  7. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants.

Tybee Island - Yoga Instructor

  • Seeking a yoga instructor to serve as a substitute for existing classes with the potential of having own class for beach yoga, and or other needed classes
  • Yoga instructor certification required
  • Pay range: $16-21/hour depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Yoga Instructor you will proactively manage the membership experience by interacting positively with members, staff and guests. The Group Exercise instructor will also be leading classes and promoting positive participant experiences in a safe environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • warmly and enthusiastically greet members with a smile and eye contact.
  • personalize relationships with members by introducing yourself by name before each class.
  • take a moment to welcome new members to your class, make them feel comfortable and let them know they have any questions after class you would love to talk with them.
  • ask the members to introduce themselves to the person standing to the left/right of them, or in front of them.
  • make a point in remembering members’ names.
  • come up with creative ways to keep your members coming back to your class.
  • be the best you can be, keep participation up, make the member excited to be taking your class.
  • be passionate about what you do….it’s contagious!

 


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • active participation in healthful lifestyle habits and strong character values.
  • appropriate certification of expertise
  • specific certification(s) as may be required for specialized instruction/classes.
  • valid CPR/AED certification to instruct.
  • a fundamental understanding of the YMCA philosophy and practices.
  • highly motivated, creative, mission-driven professional.
  • must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
